Elephants aid skeptical Missourians in tornado cleanup
The Piccadilly Circus was in Joplin, Missouri when the tornado hit. Wanting help out somehow, the circus volunteered their elephants to join in the cleanup, but from the sound of things, many Joplin residents would have preferred one of them newfangled internal combustion machines instead.

This is the cold open that The Late Late Show had to cut last-minute because they couldn’t acquire the broadcast rights to the music in time. He was quite angry about it for the rest of the show.

Source Code Trailer
When decorated soldier Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he’s part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. In an assignment unlike any he’s ever known, he learns he’s part of a government experiment called the “Source Code,” a program that enables him to cross over into another man’s identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. With a second, much larger target threatening to kill millions in downtown Chicago, Colter re-lives the incident over and over again, gathering clues each time, until he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack. Filled with mind-boggling twists and heart-pounding suspense, Source Code is a smart action-thriller directed by Duncan Jones (Moon) also starring Michelle Monaghan (Eagle Eye, Due Date), Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, The Departed), and Jeffrey Wright (Quantum of Solace, Syriana).
Looks kinda good.

The compelling animation traces Poland’s history from feudal times to the present day. You will see the world wars, the partition of the country, Chopin, the rise and fall of Communism, Solidarnosc (solidarity) and much more. Ninjas Rescue Student From Muggers
In a rescue worthy of the Mutant Ninja Turtles, five Sydney ninjas went to the aid of a commuter as he was being robbed of his mobile phone in a Sydney alleyway.
The 27-year-old German medical student had been confronted by three thugs as he sat alone on a late-night train to Kingswood, in Sydney’s western suburbs on Wednesday night.
He refused to hand over his wallet when they demanded it, but they followed him off the train and saw their chance when he turned into the dimly lit alley.
But their assault was brought to a sudden stop when they looked up from kicking their victim and saw the ninjas, dressed completely in black, running toward them.
If they had looked a bit more carefully as they trailed the student into the alley, they might have noticed that the spot where they had chosen to launch their attack was right outside the doors of the Ninja Senshi Ryu school, a Japanese martial arts school that trains would be ninja warriors.
Even worse for the hapless muggers, a class happened to be in progress at the time. It was being taught by a sensei, or teacher, of 30 years experience in the specialised warrior art of Ninjutsu, an ancient martial art focusing on stealth, pressure points and weaponry.
The class was coming to an end when a ninjitsu student went outside and saw the attack on the student, who was coming to the end of an eight week exchange visit. Rushing back to class, he called on black belt instructor Kaylan Soto and three other students for help.
“He’s called out to me, ‘Sensei, someone’s getting mugged on the road outside!’” said Mr Soto .”We looked around to see what was happening and there were three blokes on this guy just kicking him and punching him in the head.
“We started running at them, yelling and everything. These guys have turned around and seen five ninjas in black ninja uniforms running towards them. They just bolted,” he said.
“You should have seen their faces when they saw us in ninja gear coming towards them. I’ve never seen guys running that fast. They should have been in the Olympics – they would have won gold,” he added.
Ninja student Steve Ashley said: “It was probably the worst place in Sydney where they could have taken him.”
The muggers got away with the student’s mobile phone and iPod. Sydney police said they have charged a 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man with robbery. The third attacker is still on the run.
It would have made the ninja turtles very proud. As they would say, Cowabunga.
Hell Yeah!!!!!! It’s good to be a Ninja.
Must Watch: J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 Official HQ Teaser Trailer!
Super 8 (which is supposedly a tentative title) is written and directed by visionary director J.J. Abrams, who started his career with “Lost” & “Alias” before directing Mission: Impossible III and Star Trek last summer. This is being produced by Steven Spielberg with a budget of ~$50 million and hasn’t even started shooting. Abrams will film this in the next months, most likely in complete secrecy, so I’m not sure when we’ll see the next trailer. According to early reports, this is inspired by Spielberg’s films of the 70′s and 80′s. Paramount will be releasing Super 8 in theaters everywhere sometime next summer in 2011 (a date has not been set).
I watched this before Iron Man 2 on the big screen and it twas amazing.

Alaska Dog Honored For Leading Troopers To Fire
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Buddy the German shepherd was hailed Friday as a hero for guiding Alaska State Troopers through winding back roads to a fire at his owners’ workshop.
“Buddy is an untrained dog who for some reason recognized the severity of the situation and acted valiantly in getting help for his family,” Col. Audie Holloway, head of the troopers, said Friday at a ceremony for the 5-year-old dog, who stood quietly before an adoring crowd.
Buddy, whose good deed was caught on a patrol car’s dashcam video, received a stainless steel dog bowl engraved with words of appreciation from troopers for his “diligence and assistance.”
Buddy also received a big rawhide bone, and his human family got a framed letter documenting his efforts.
“He’s my hero,” owner Ben Heinrichs said, his voice breaking. “If it wasn’t for him, we would have lost our house.”
The dashcam video shows Buddy meeting the trooper’s vehicle, then dashing to their property about 55 miles north of Anchorage on April 4.
Heinrichs said he was working on parts for his truck when a spark hit some gasoline and ignited, lighting his clothes blaze. The 23-year-old man ran outside to stomp out the flames by rolling in the snow, closing the door to keep the blaze from spreading.
Heinrichs then realized Buddy was still inside the burning building and let the dog out. Heinrichs suffered minor burns on his face and second-degree burns on his left hand, which was still heavily bandaged Friday.
Buddy was not injured.
“I just took off running,” Heinrichs said. “I said we need to get help, and he just took off.”
Buddy ran into the nearby woods and onto Caswell Loop Road, where the dog encountered the trooper, Terrence Shanigan, whose global positioning device had failed while responding to a call about the fire. He was working with dispatchers to find the property in an area with about 75 miles of back roads.
Shanigan was about to make a wrong turn when he saw a shadow up the road. His vehicle lights caught Buddy at an intersection, and the dog eyed the trooper and began running down a side road.
“He wasn’t running from me, but was leading me,” he said. “I just felt like I was being led … it’s just one of those things that we’re thinking on the same page for that brief moment.”
The video shows Buddy occasionally looking back at the patrol car as he raced ahead, galloping around three turns before arriving in front of the blaze, which was very close to the Heinrichs’ home.
From there, the trooper guided firefighters to the scene.
The workshop was destroyed and a shed was heavily damaged, but only some window trim on the house was scorched.
The Heinrich family said they knew Buddy was smart ever since they got him six weeks after he was born to a canine-officer mother and that he was brave, twice chasing bears away while Ben Heinrichs was fishing.
But saving their home beat them all.
“Downright amazing, I would say,” said Tom Heinrichs, Ben’s father. “Maybe there was some divine intervention.”
