The Browser You STILL Love to Hate

the problem of course is that IE is still a completely 100% shit browser. Use Firefox, or Chrome if you’re a fucking idiot.

Only fucking fucktards use IE. no matter what the version.

A flag no more: Microsoft unveils new Windows logo

The multicolored Windows flag is no more. Windows 8 will do away with the wavy Windows logo that Microsoft has used in one form or another for the last 20 years, and replace it with a logo that’s, well, a window.

I’ve really only known the Windows “Flag” logo, I was 12 when it first came out and I was still a wee little nerdling and hadn’t gotten my first ‘real’ computer yet.

Elite Anti-Terror Police Went After Megaupload’s Kim Dotcom

While last month’s shutdown of Megaupload has been well documented, the finer details of the raid on Kim Dotcom’s mansion have only just been revealed. A new and astonishing report features a house tour and in-depth discussion with Dotcom’s bodyguard. He was confronted by dozens of armed police, some from New Zealand’s elite anti-terrorist force, who also demanded of a nanny: “Do you have any bombs?!”

Amazon might open its own retail stores?

Pinch yourself if this sounds crazy. Amazon, the world’s undisputed online retail champ is said to be considering a move into retail with a pilot store in Seattle that’ll focus primarily on selling the Kindle e-readers and Kindle Fire tablet alongside exclusively published books and e-books.

I would totally shop at an amazon store.  They could even use them as pickup/drop off locations, which I would also use.

‘BreathalEyes’ app

There’s been a lot of talk about driving drunk on here, and now there’s a new way to avoid it! Since, it seems people are more apt to listen to an app than they are to another person, it’s probably a good thing that there’s now an iPhone app that tells you if you’re too drunk to drive.

I know when I’m too drunk to drive, it’s every time I drink, because I don’t have just one drink man, wtf is that about, no, I”ll have a couple dozen.

My picks for top 2012 Superbowl Commercials

#5 – Avengers Trailer – Because seriously, it’s the damn Avengers.

#4 – Phone Innovators – If only because of the 5 second “Words with friends” bit.

#3 – Pepsi King’s Court – Because damn that girl’s got some fine titties Lungs on her!

#2 – Fiat 500 Abarth – I was actually angry with this commercial until it turned out to be a commercial for….ah well, just watch it:

#1 – Chrysler – It’s halftime in America

There’s only a few guys that can pull off an Independence Day “We will endure” speech, and Clint Eastwood is at the top of that list. I’m also a huge fan of the “Imported from Detroit” slogan, and I’m real happy with the nationalist / rah rah ‘go america’ tone. This thing had me tearing up a wee bit…

Also, as a side note, I want to meet and shake the hand of LMAO’s booking agent, they were EVERYWHERE during this year’s superbowl, in at least two commercials (M&M, and the pre-halftime advert) and were actually one of the back up artists to Madonna’s “safe” performance.

dishonorable mention: Godaddy, still sexist and sensationalist as ever. I suggest Namecheap for those of you still with them.

Think I got it wrong? have another one to suggest? Let me know in the comments!

Remember, Stealing From MIT Is a Bad Idea

For the Museum of Modern Art’s Talk to Me exhibit, MIT’s SENSEable City Lab created a piece composed of 40 laptops that were sent all over the world and programmed to transmit data and images from their environments back to MIT. Fast forward some months and one of those laptops had entered common usage at the Lab. It was left on a desk and stolen in a burglary. (Of all the luck!) How do you think this crime caper might end? This is a story with a moral, after all.

this kind of device is what the iphone’s gaming ecosystem has needed for years. This controller combined with the video out to HDMI would likely lead to some interesting gaming.

BlueStacks lets you run any Android app on your Windows PC

What BlueStacks does is essentially let your computer switch between running Windows and Android. Now this isn’t something that requires a reboot to change the OS, it’s as instant as minimizing a window on your desktop. When running Android, you can open up any app from the marketplace, and run it just like you would on your phone or tablet.

ah well. win7 only, but …. well I guess I’ll pay closer attention to the free apps on amazon.com

Computer virus hits US Predator and Reaper drone fleet

A computer virus has infected the cockpits of America’s Predator and Reaper drones, logging pilots’ every keystroke as they remotely fly missions over Afghanistan and other war zones.

The virus, first detected nearly two weeks ago by the military’s Host-Based Security System, has not prevented pilots at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada from flying their missions overseas. Nor have there been any confirmed incidents of classified information being lost or sent to an outside source. But the virus has resisted multiple efforts to remove it from Creech’s computers, network security specialists say. And the infection underscores the ongoing security risks in what has become the US military’s most important weapons system.

That’s it kids, Skynet has made the first move, and soon the UAVs will be coming to eat you and your kids.

Star Trek PADD for iPad

The Official Star TrekTM PADD (Personal Access Display Device) immerses fans in a rich interactive database of Star TrekTM information and images with an authentic reproduction of the LCARS style interface introduced in the Star Trek: The Next GenerationTM series.

The PADD provides access to the official Star TrekTM database from StarTrek.com of aliens, ships, places, technologies, and episode guide. The app includes a true reproduction of LCARS, the computer interface commonly used in Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets during the 24th century, and includes familiar computer sound effects and voice, making it enjoyable to everyone.

It’s a shame that the first page of reviews are all negative, seems like they could have really done something nice here.

An official Etch-a-Sketch case for the iPad. Could it be any more awesome? Well, yes—if it could actually control the pad itself. Still, the look is spot on.
