Keith Olbermann SUSPENDED From MSNBC Indefinitely Without Pay

MSNBC has suspended star anchor Keith Olbermann following the news that he had donated to three Democratic candidates this election cycle.

“I became aware of Keith’s political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay,” MSNBC president Phil Griffin said in a statement.

Rape By Deceit?

I gotta admit, at first I was shocked that a man would go to jail for lying about his religion to sleep with a woman. After listening to this, however, I’m not so sure. At ~9 minutes in, he makes me feel a tad better about how a law against rape by deceit would work. Still, I’m not sure. What do you guys think?

Deer swimming across the Arthur Kill to Staten Island

Apparently there is such an overpopulation of deer in New Jersey, that they’re swimming across the Raritan Bay to avoid starvation. I’m not sure, but I think it’s less than one mile across the bay from Perth Amboy to Tottenville.

The Shame of Eric J. J. Massa

I thought I knew what snorkeling was. When I was younger, if you called a guy a real snorkeler, it meant he was especially good at cunnilingus. I guess I should have realized that the talk around Massa was his behavior with other men, that the definition would have to be somewhat different. What I was surprised about was that not one single definition in Urban Dictionary. Times, they are a changing.
The thing is: Who cares if he’s gay? He’s a democrat, not anti-gay, there seems to be very little hypocrisy on that subject. The point is that he was being investigated for sexual harassment on a (male) staffer. Why does it matter if it was a male or female staffer? Harassment is harassment, regardless of gender.
What’s more interesting is to watch the man come up with one reason/explanation of what happened and whether or not he was ousted or resigned voluntarily.

New York congressman Eric Massa resigned his House seat this week under a sexual harassment cloud, claiming fellow Democrats forced his ouster, to keep him from voting against their health care bill.

It’s the latest claim in a changing stream of explanations that have propelled him from a relatively obscure Democratic lawmaker to darling of conservative talk show hosts.

But his explanation leaves out a key fact: The decision and timing of his resignation were Massa’s alone.

Massa could have stayed in Congress and cast votes on health care in the coming weeks even as he awaited the results of a House ethics panel probe into allegations he harassed a male staffer. Most lawmakers facing congressional ethics investigations remain in office.

Massa says he was targeted by Democrats who will “stop at nothing” to advance their health care overhaul. On a New York radio station Sunday, Massa blamed Democrats for his downfall, saying, “I was set up for this from the very, very beginning.”

Kevin Smith Kicked off Soutwest Airlines for Being Too Fat

Kevin Smith is mad as hell as he’s not going to take it anymore…
was kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight on Valentine’s Day, allegedly for being too fat to fly
Southwest’s formal policy requires customers who cannot lower both armrests, or who “compromise any portion of adjacent seating,” to purchase two seats. Smith often purchases two seats when he flies on Southwest—he insists he does so only because “I don’t like people”—but because he was flying standby on this particular flight, he only purchased one seat.

Smith called his recent deplaning the worst experience of his life.
“When you grow up fat, you learn how to navigate through a thin person’s world without calling attention to yourself… No fat person wants to stick out. We’re all kind of dying inside a little bit.”

Part of me thinks that was a huge PR mistake for Southwest (not their 1st), they’re getting a bad rep. On the other hand, Dude, if you can’t fit in one seat, you need to buy two, every time.

Sarah Palin To Join Fox News As Contributor

sarah-palin

Sarah Palin and Fox News are signing on to work together soon. Sarah Palin signing with Fox News allows her to have another vehicle from which to spread her politics, and it actually seems like Fox News is a good fit for her. According to the Washington Post, Sarah Palin will shortly be announced as a contributor with Fox News, and that the revealing of Sarah Palin is expected to come “shortly.” It is reported that Sarah Palin will appear as a commentator on various Fox shows, and that she will serve as a host of an occasional program that will examine “inspirational tales involving ordinary Americans.”

This move by both Sarah Palin and Fox News is definitely going to be looked at in a different fashion from both sides of the aisle. It should be welcomed by viewers of Fox News, as Palin is extremely popular with her conservative base, and Fox News has become a very large pulpit for conservative news and views over the past few years. She will fit in perfectly with the rest of the Fox News team, and undoubtedly will being in some nice ratings for the network. That has to be why Rupert Murdoch wanted to sign Sarah Palin on to the network, and while she can be a lightning rod at times, she is never uninteresting on television.

While it seems like this is the perfect move for Sarah Palin to make right now, it also seems a bit suspect in its authenticity. It really looks from the outside like Sarah Palin is trying to further strengthen her support around the country, and to give people something to hang on to if she does end up running for President of the United States on the Republican ticket in 2012. It’s still a few years away, but this really looks like she is setting up some more ground work in order to create an even stronger following for herself. She does have some work to do to overcome the bad publicity she received for quitting as Governor as Alaska, and this could turn into a genius move by both Palin and Fox News in the end.

An official announcement of this union is expected from Fox News and Sarah Palin very soon.

This is kinda perfect actually, because we all know how well she interacts with the media, debates and how she is such an honest politician. I hope she runs in 2012 for the lol’s. Her voice is so painful to hear though and her political doctrine more so. Don’t cha know. Actually no, I wish this was satire. I wish she was satire or isn’t she?

Cannibal Kebabs

Kebab

Russian police have arrested three homeless people suspected of eating a 25-year-old man they had butchered and selling other bits of the corpse to a local kebab house.

Suspicions were raised when dismembered parts of a human body were found near a bus stop in the outskirts of the Russian city of Perm, 1,150 km (720 miles) east of Moscow.

Three homeless men with previous criminal records have been arrested on suspicion of setting upon a foe with knives and a hammer before chopping up his corpse to eat, local investigators said in a statement on their www.susk.perm.ru Web site.

“After carrying out the crime, the corpse was divided up: part was eaten and part was also sold to a kiosk selling kebabs and pies,” the Prosecutor-General’s main investigative unit for the Perm region said in a statement issued on Friday.

It was not immediately clear from the statement if any of the corpse had been sold to customers.

Insane! When people are homeless to the point of cannibalism something is really wrong with the world. This also reminds me of Sweeney Todd.

Americans generally like to hear good news. They like to believe that a new President will right old wrongs, that clean energy will replace dirty oil, and that fresh thinking will set the economy straight. American pundits tend to restrain their pessimism and to hope for the best. But is anyone prepared for the worst? Michael Ruppert is a different kind of American. A former Los Angeles police officer turned independent reporter, he predicted the current financial crisis in his self-published newsletter “From the Wilderness” at a time when most Wall Street and Washington analysts were still in denial. Smith has always had a feeling for outsiders in films like “American Movie” and “American Job.” In “Collapse,” Smith stylistically departs from his past films by interviewing Ruppert in a format that recalls the work of Errol Morris and Spalding Gray. Sitting in a room that looks like a bunker, Ruppert recounts his career as a radical thinker and spells out the crises he sees ahead. He draws upon the same news reports and data available to any Internet user, but he applies a unique interpretation. He is especially passionate over the issue of “peak oil,” the concern raised by scientists since the 1970s that the world will eventually run out of fossil fuel. While other experts debate this issue in measured tones, Ruppert doesn’t hold back at sounding an alarm. He portrays a future that resembles apocalyptic science fiction. Listening to his rapid flow of opinions, the viewer is likely to question some of the rhetoric as paranoid or deluded; and to sway back and forth on what to make of the extremism. Smith lets viewers form their own judgments.

Something about this docu intrigues me and scares the shit out of me, because in my gut the things that this man says about our failing society are true.

Gun-toting soccer mom is shot dead

Meleanie Hain, the pistol-carrying Lebanon mom who received national attention for taking a loaded gun to her daughter’s soccer game, was shot to death Wednesday night with her husband in an apparent murder-suicide, police said.

Hain, 31, and her husband, Scott, 33, were pronounced dead by Lebanon County Coroner Dr. Jeffrey Yocum shortly after 8:30 p.m. at their home at Second Avenue and East Grant Street, Lebanon, police said.

The couple’s three children were home at the time and were not injured. They are staying with relatives and friends, police said.

…Meleanie Hain was thrust into the national spotlight when she took a gun, in plain view and holstered on her hip, to a soccer game Sept. 11, 2008, at Optimist Park in Lebanon.

Her permit to carry a gun was revoked by Lebanon County Sheriff Michael DeLeo on Sept. 20, 2008. DeLeo said Hain showed poor judgment in wearing her gun to the game.

Hain’s permit was reinstated by Lebanon County Judge Robert Eby on Oct. 14, 2008, but the judge asked her to conceal it at soccer games. Hain said she would continue to carry it openly under the Second Amendment.

I don’t even know what to say about this, other than tragic.

Two people dead of pneumonic plague

A second man has died of pneumonic plague in a remote part of north-western China where thousands of people have been quarantined.
The man was identified by Chinese state media as a neighbour aged 37 of the first victim, who was 32, in Ziketan, near Xinghai in Qinghai Province.

BBC: Second plague death in west China

I read this and decided not to freak, at first. I should wiki it before I worry. Lots of diseases have been labeled as ‘bubonic’, and not all of them decimate whole human populations. You know; there’s the flu and the there is the Spanish flu, responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths in a single season in 1918.
So I wiki Pneumonic plague and read:

Pneumonic plague is the second most virulent and second least common form of plague (after septicemic plague), caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis. Typically, pneumonic form is due to a secondary spread from advanced infection of an initial bubonic form. Primary pneumonic plague results from inhalation of aerosolized infective droplets and can be transmitted from human to human without involvement of fleas or animals. Untreated pneumonic plague has a very high case-fatality ratio.

Can I worry now? May I freak, please? No, I know better. Even after we “eradicated” Smallpox, there were several cases a year and some small outbreaks in other countries. So, best not to freak and resume living my life.

Fish Bite Naked Chinese Man’s ‘Wrong Parts’ During Spa’s ‘Special Water Treatment’

Fish that are supposed to clear people’s skin by eating off the dead layers bit a man’s private parts after he stepped in the water naked at a hot spring club in Dalian, Liaoning province.

The man, who had visited the spa for a “special water treatment”, sat in the water for half an hour without realizing the special fish were nibbling on his special parts instead of the dead skin.

The manager of the club saw the man bleeding as he stepped out of the water and rushed him to a nearby hospital.

The manager however refused to compensate the man, saying it was mandatory to keep pants on during treatments in the club.

You tell ‘em Helen! The administration, any administration should not be calling reporters the night before to ask that they ask a certain question, or even a certain type of question. That’s the kind of garbage the Bush administration pulled and we despised them for it. It doesn’t make it any easier because it’s the Obama administration doing it. In fact, it makes it worse (for me). Does anyone else think Gibbs is smarmy? I really don’t like the way he does his job.

Olivia Munn Cast In Iron Man 2

olivia-munn-jiggle-02

Back in April, Olivia Munn revealed on Twitter that she has been cast in two upcoming movies: One is the upcoming Steve Carell/Tina Fey comedy Date Night, and the other is some project that she was working out for but wasn’t “legally” allowed to discuss publicly yet. Turns out that she has a role in Iron Man 2. No word on how large of a role she might play. I assume that she’ll probably be in one or two scenes, possibly as a television announcer [quite an assumption, no? -Ed]. Munn said on Twitter that her role is “definitely” bigger than her one minute appearance in Rob Schneider’s Big Stan.

Iron Man 2 is sounding better and better. Olivia is on the cover of the new Playboy that comes out tomorrow too. Unfortunately I don\’t think she strips, still tasty Asian/American flavored eye candy.
