Abrams Sells Post-Apocalyptic ‘Revolution’ Pilot To NBC
“In this epic adventure thriller, a family struggles to reunite in a post-apocalyptic American landscape: a world of empty cities, local militias and heroic freedom fighters, where every single piece of technology — computers, planes, cars, phones, even lights — has mysteriously blacked out … forever.”
I’ve completely given up on JJ Abrams’ work, after seeing what he did to Star Trek, how LOST ended, the cluster f*ck that Fringe turned out to be, and ultimately hearing his TED presentation, I’ve realized that he’s not there to tell a story with a firm start, middle and end, he’s here to tell you about the possibility of the story, not the story itself. Seeing the reviews of his latest project, Alcatraz, it seems like I’m right on the money about his style of story telling…all style, little substance. Also, I think I saw this series already when it was named Dark Angel, Jericho, Terra Nova.

The Ecto-1 is the legendary vehicle that the Ghostbusters used to travel throughout the city busting ghosts. The vehicle used for the Ecto-1 was a 1959 Cadillac professional ambulance, built by the Miller-Meteor Company and converted by Universal Studios.
Ghostbusters is the famous 1984 American comedy film about three eccentric New York City parapsychologists turned ghost exterminators.
Back when I was in the working world, I had a pretty sweet car collection up on a shelf, now they’re all in a box in a sad corner of my home office…but I can’t help that think the Ecto-1 (or the a-team classic, whew mama) would make some great additions.

My picks for top 2012 Superbowl Commercials
#5 – Avengers Trailer – Because seriously, it’s the damn Avengers.
#4 – Phone Innovators – If only because of the 5 second “Words with friends” bit.
#3 – Pepsi King’s Court – Because damn that girl’s got some fine titties Lungs on her!
#2 – Fiat 500 Abarth – I was actually angry with this commercial until it turned out to be a commercial for….ah well, just watch it:
#1 – Chrysler – It’s halftime in America
There’s only a few guys that can pull off an Independence Day “We will endure” speech, and Clint Eastwood is at the top of that list. I’m also a huge fan of the “Imported from Detroit” slogan, and I’m real happy with the nationalist / rah rah ‘go america’ tone. This thing had me tearing up a wee bit…
Also, as a side note, I want to meet and shake the hand of LMAO’s booking agent, they were EVERYWHERE during this year’s superbowl, in at least two commercials (M&M, and the pre-halftime advert) and were actually one of the back up artists to Madonna’s “safe” performance.
dishonorable mention: Godaddy, still sexist and sensationalist as ever. I suggest Namecheap for those of you still with them.
Think I got it wrong? have another one to suggest? Let me know in the comments!
New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Action Figures Revealed
Nickelodeon is releasing a new CG animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show later this year, and that of course means new toys.
1 – These toys look awesome, exactly how I would like my TMNT items to look.
2 – when I was much younger, 10 or 11, I had a TON of these guys, and was going over to a friends house to play with them and their own TMNT collection, there was a disagreement over who owned what, and some punches got thrown. Ultimately the cops showed up and everyone was all up in a tizzy over what I believe was Casey Jones action figure. I want to say this was my first brush with the law, certainly wasn’t my last…

Redbox refuses Warner Brothers
Two years after bending to Warner’s demands and delaying its kiosk rentals 28 days in exchange for lower acquisition costs and a steady supply of Blu-ray discs, Redbox announced the agreement has expired. This comes as a result of Warner’s desire to extend the delay between the time movies are available for purchase to the time they can be rented in kiosks or by subscription to 56 days, and instead Redbox will go back to buying the studio’s movies at retail
Nice to see that they’re pushing back against the insane stipulations of WB to not rent movies for 60 full days after it’s been released on the retail level. Of course, I’m using Netflix myself, so I have to wait up to a couple years to see the movies that I want to see, but I also have nearly 3,000 hours of entertainment queued up in there, I can stand to wait a wee bit longer than the average consumer.

Battlestar Galactica – Portlandia
1 – god I loved BSG. sure, the ending was shit, but it was a hell of a ride.
2 – god I love Portlandia. I have faith that their final episode won’t be such a let down. The first half of the first season is on Netflix, give it a try.

Kevin Smith’s Comic Book Men
I think it’s hilarious that there’s still this stigma out there about comic shop owners that seems to imply they’re just little boys running a store and not men trying to make a profit off the crushed dreams of a nerd filled hobby.
Or maybe that’s just my local comic shop that I’m thinking of?

Gerber Now Selling The Official Walking Dead Apocalypse Weapons
You may have noticed a lot of Gerber knifes being wielded in the Walking Dead. Why, just this past weekend Glenn took out a Zombie in a pharmacy with the Gerber Gator Machete Pro.
That having been said, Gerber is looking to capitalize on zombie mania with an official Walking Dead Apocalypse survival toolkit. It contains seven stabby and slashy tools for $350. Shipping is slated for December 5th and only 200 kits will be available.

Syfy Orders Script Based on DC Comics’ ‘Booster Gold’
The project, which will be penned by "Fringe’s" Andrew Kreisberg, hails from Greg Berlanti’s production company.
Syfy is looking to bring Booster Gold to life on the small screen.
Hopefully they do more with him than they did in Smallville. Ugh.

DC Nation
oh I like. I just hope that most of this content makes it (legally!) to the internet. I’d love to see some main stream convention coverage!
Also, was that Lego Batman I saw in there? sweeeet.
The Punisher Heads to Television
After three feature film versions, Frank Castle is heading to the small screen. Deadline reports that Fox has plans to develop Marvel Comics’ “The Punisher” as a television series from former “Criminal Minds” showrunner Edward Allen Bernero.
Set up through ABC Studios, “The Punisher” will take on the format of an hourlong police procedural. In this version, Castle will work by day as an NYPD detective and by night as the Punisher, righting the wrongs that he legally can’t.
This is a horrible idea. Did they learn nothing from the success of the comic movies/television series that stayed true to the original story? This is taking the Punisher name and applying it to someone / something else entirely. Frank’s got to be a vet back from the war, trying to regain his relationship with his family, only to have them brutally murdered while playing frisby in the park. He then has to kill people. LOTS of people. I somehow doubt that ABC is willing to show the kind of bodycount that The Punisher truly demands.
