forgetting to check whether you even downloaded the DLC first — and then not having enough Xbox points to buy it — and then having your payment option expired and needing to enter an entire new credit card

her voice sounds damn sexy here. wtf.

Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure

the full Skylanders launch range comprises 32 three-inch plastic action figures (most sold separately), a disc-shaped “Portal of Power” peripheral, an assortment of add-on toys that work like DLC, and enough flashy packaging to give your garbage collector a bad back. Oh, and there’s a kid-friendly button-mashing videogame buried under all that, too.

dang it, this still looks good to me. $8 per fig, 32 figs…
hey, that’s only like $250 for all of the DLCish figs!

Warhammer 40k: Space Marine finds identity outside of Gears of War

0k

I will admit that the headline is a little bit of a troll—Warhammer fans are notoriously punchy about making sure people understand their game influenced StarCraft and Gears, not the other way around—but we also live in a world where Gears of War is seen as the master of the bulky-space-marines-killing-things genre. It’s one thing to know that Warhammer has been profoundly influential in the world of gaming and miniatures, but the game still has to stand out among games that took its core concepts and made them popular.

My anticipation for this game has been growing for the last few months, I’m happy that it’s release date is near. Now if only I had some money to buy the game with…

Star Wars: The Old Republic supply artificially limited at launch

In an attempt to prevent its servers from collapsing under the weight of a million Force-hungry MMO-players, EA will artificially limit the number of copies — both digital and retail — of Star Wars: The Old Republic available at launch. An EA representative reportedly revealed the strategy at a Gamescom demo, but didn’t divulge any details such as how many copies would be available, or how long it would take for more copies to be released once the quota is met.

This is a good idea, I remember Star Trek Online’s launch being really shaky, and even WoW was too, due to all the noobs trying to jump on board all at once…

Activision’s Skylanders erases the line between toy and video game

Skylanders was first shown at Toy Fair, not at a video game event, and that decision makes sense. This is a product that works on a few levels, including the irrational need to collect things, and to level them up. The cynical part of me wants to call this a money-grab, but the more child-like part has already fallen in love with the concept, especially after I was given the chance to play with the toys and the game.

well colored me excited.
