The New Star Trek Movie SUCKED

Want to know how badly it sucked?

Star Trek racked up $7 million dollars last night in domestic tickets sales.

Yeah, that’s right. Opening night, it only made $7 million dollars. Compare that to Wolverine, which wasn’t a good movie either, but it made $85,058,003 in it’s opening weekend. I went and saw it.

I didn’t like it.

  1. I am going to see Star Trek this weekend. I’ll let you know what I think. I’m a much bigger fan of Star Trek than X-Men. I thought Wolverine was boring and more than a little confusing if you didn’t know the back stories, and other than the other movies, I don’t.

  2. You could at least try for an apples to apples comparison: according to the ap(http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jmwB06pPTqqezyOXdf8zysVgFrcwD982RM980) the estimated take for the opening weekend will be ~70 million.

  3. I liked it. I’m w/ puul, 8/10. The plot was thin and very questionable but that wasn’t the intention of this movie. The point was introduce the characters to each other and to us. In that, it did very well. I’m looking forward to the next one.
Star Trek has always been campy and this movies carries on that tradition in fact and spirit. Each new series (TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise) has been almost painful to watch…at first. This is a series that always took 2+ seasons to find its pace and character definition. I know a lot of people thought Enterprise sucked, but I didn’t. It was just starting to work when they pulled it.

  4. @tiki god:
JJ Abrahams would never let something at silly as a plot get in the way of a good summber block buster.

After calming down a bit and drinking some of the memory of the movie away, I’ve come to the conclusion that it was a good summer block buster, but a shitty star trek movie. gone are the ideals of a sane future with compassion and stories of how good people live in a crazy universe.

Now we just kick them when they’re down. and then shit on their faces, cause that’s just what the federation does 😉

also: anyone else realize that TOS / TNG / DS9 / VOY are all thrown out the window now? That shit isn’t in the continuity of this new reboot. Now it’s just Star Trek: Enterprise and this movie.
