The Wall

Trailer for a new documentary on the ‘wall’ being built along the Mexican border and what Homeland Security is doing to the home/land owners that happen to be in the way. I really dislike the concept, in this country, of imminent domain.
When the people who live near the border would rather deal with illegal immigration than have a ‘wall’ built trough their backyard, I think the need for the wall is…overstated.

  1. While I certainly understand what you mean about those there saying “leave it alone we’ll deal with it,” they are not the only people in the country who have to deal with immigration.

Of course, this wall is going to have a mostly insignificant impact. Human traffickers are what need to be targeted, and this doesn’t seem like it does that to me.

    1. I think that is the point of the landowners. DHS wants them to give up parts of their land for very little good effect. There’s so many better ways to spend that kind of money. A wall seems symbolic rather than a really useful deterrent.

  2. Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution:

“No person shall… be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.”

    1. there’s been plenty of amendments since then though. that’s like looking at windows 95 and saying that windows 98se sucks because it didn’t have usb support.
