How did the phrase “under God” get added anyway?
The McCarthy Witch-hunt trials, where anything could be accused of being communist, and anything that wanted to prove how non-communist it was glommed onto “traditional american values” like Christianity.
Same goes for “In God We Trust” on our currency, it wasn’t there until around WWI, if I remember correctly.
Interesting. I’ll wager it was purposefully added.
