WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama on Tuesday will sign into law an overhaul of the college student loan program which cuts commercial banks out of the student loan business, drying up a multibillion dollar profit stream.
Sadly, I’m out of school and have loans from the previous administration, but this was always something that really pissed me off. Why were corporations profiting off my education? Shouldn’t I be the one that profits from that?

I agree. I did fine because my dad was a prof at Fordham, so I went free. After that I had scholarships and fellowships. On the other hand I put 3 boys through college and one is still in grad school. It’s much, much, MUCH more expensive now than it was when hubby and I went through (Hubby went through on the VA’s dime). So, we’re paying off a lot PLUS loans.
These guys better take good frikken care of us when we’re old. Feebled and brain addled.
