Dealing with a friend that has different beliefs than you can be frustrating for both yourself and the believer. Learning how to deal with it can be extremely difficult and you might want to try to convert them to rationalism. If you do choose this route, however, you must always keep this in mind: be gentle and don’t belittle their ideals. If your friend expresses a deep, sincere wish for you to leave their beliefs alone, then back off.

There’s something to that. What good is getting a religious person to embrace atheism if it means you had to destroy their sense of self and happiness? It’s one of those things that one has to be ready for.
