Super 8 (which is supposedly a tentative title) is written and directed by visionary director J.J. Abrams, who started his career with “Lost” & “Alias” before directing Mission: Impossible III and Star Trek last summer. This is being produced by Steven Spielberg with a budget of ~$50 million and hasn’t even started shooting. Abrams will film this in the next months, most likely in complete secrecy, so I’m not sure when we’ll see the next trailer. According to early reports, this is inspired by Spielberg’s films of the 70’s and 80’s. Paramount will be releasing Super 8 in theaters everywhere sometime next summer in 2011 (a date has not been set).
I watched this before Iron Man 2 on the big screen and it twas amazing.Favorite This!

saw this when I saw Iron Man 2. it seems intreging, but I’m not sold on the premise yet. Sadly, JJ’s starting to wear a wee bit thin, much like M. Night Shyamalan did when every single movie he did had a ‘shocking twist’ in it. JJ’s movies are all “mysteries that never really get answered”. He’s be able to do licensed properties though interspersed through his own films so it isn’t really too obvious.
but still, after years of Lost, Fringe and then Cloverfield, it seems like all of his original products are mysterious mysteries that never get real answers to them.
I thought MI:3 was awesome too. Abrams rules!
I didn’t like any of the MI’s.
Abrams does Fringe? That and Star Trek are the only two of that list that were even worth watching. Star Trek was decent, but I really like Fringe.
