Blockbuster Chases GameFly, Offers Game Rentals By Mail

The Consumerist is reporting that Blockbuster is going to be offering $9 a month video game rentals, which is down right cheap compared to Gamefly’s $15 a month subscription.  I used Gamefly for a while, but that $15 was just too much for me to spend for a single game.  The $10 barrier though, that might make me want to get back into the game rental system.

Here’s what Gamefly’s CEO had to say about it:

I’ve known about this for about two minutes, but I can’t think of one thing we’d do differently. The honest truth is that ever since we started the company, we’ve built it as if we had a major competitor. Until Blockbuster can do a better job with games than GameFly, everybody should subscribe to our service.

Mind you, I’m still going to be buying Halo: Reach 😉
