How do you extend the life of the Xbox 360, a console that’s nearly six-years-old and basically runs on PC architecture? If you’re Microsoft, you might let hundreds of millions of Windows 8 users play Xbox 360 games right on their PCs.
According to Insideris, Microsoft is working on plans to bring Xbox 360 gaming to its next PC operating system: Windows 8. Apparently, users who want to play Xbox 360 games on their PC will have to pay for a subscription (Xbox Live style) and there will be no Xbox 360 to PC cross-platform multiplayer because of the advantage that a mouse has over a 360 gamepad.
Not sure how I feel about this. It’d be nice, but….meh. I’ve tried several emulation programs for other systems and have never found one that worked pretty well, and I doubt this one will work all that great.
Unless of course, microsoft pulls their heads out of their butts and build both the xbox 3 and windows 8 from the ground up to play nice together.

“a console that’s nearly six-years-old and basically runs on PC architecture?”
No, it doesn’t. The xbox 360 has a PowerPC CPU, which isn’t compatible with a PC.
And as far as emulators go, the most powerful machine I’ve seen emulated at playable speeds is a PS2, which has a 300MHz CPU. The Xbox 360 runs at 3.2GHz with a triple-core CPU.
So I’m calling BS on that news story.
But I don’t want to play console games on an iPad!
I don’t have high hopes. BUT at least it would put an end to the horror of PC ports.
Hey Geko, Actually it is possible to play high quality games on your ipad.
